Parkway North Holds Annual Student Government Elections

On April 10, Parkway North held its annual Student Council elections for the upcoming academic year.  The speeches were made via YouTube videos that were sent to each ac lab.  Then, the students could vote via a QR code or by completing an election ballet online.  For many of the new executives, this is their first time being elected to a position.

“I think we have really good leaders for next year.  I think Jamie David will do an outstanding job as our student body president next year.  She has already met with me, and she has great ideas for next year,” said sponsor Bob McKitrick. “I think that Meghan Mudd, Eesha Saberwal, and Joey Goldman will be really strong representatives for our student body.”

The 2013-2014 Student Body President Mary-Kate Mudd has left a large legacy for the incoming executives.  Mudd has been involved with STUCO since her freshman year, and she was involved with the middle school student council too.

“She started things at our school that will continue for a long time, for example the Sadie Hawkins Dance.  She has been a wonderful president. She has the unique ability to relate to everybody, and that is what you need,” said McKitrick.

With this year’s executive board out, and a new group coming in, many hope that STUCO will be able to build upon the success that they have been achieving for the past few years.

“I’m going to be the Senior Class Secretary next year.  I think it should be fun, and hopefully I will be able to contribute as much as I did this year.  I hope next year everything runs smoothly.  I know next year we are doing tailgating for the football games, which we haven’t done in the past few years.”

McKitrick hopes that the new group will bring strengths that the previous group didn’t have.

“Every group has different talents. This upcoming group’s talents will be event planning and community outreach.  I really would look to this upcoming group to really do a lot of service learning type things and to pull off some real good events outside of homecoming,” said McKitrick. “Next year, I hope we just continue our goal of uniting the student body and promoting Parkway North.”
