Parkway North Theatre Holds Last Improv Show

improv 3On May 4, 2014, Parkway North’s Theater Crew held their last improv show of the year and the last improv show for the senior class of 2014. The improv show held a variety of games and skits that entertained the audience in the genre of comedy.

“Improv is acting without a script. We get a suggestion out of the audience, and we make a scene out of it. We usually have one [show] per semester, and we have two show: a three o’clock show and a seven o’clock show; but this year, we had two first semester and then one second semester,” said senior Maddie Thomas.

Some of the games that were played during the improv show were “Survivor, Say What?”, and the “Piano Game”.  The audience was heavily involved in the games, but the favorite game played during the improv show was “Town Hall”.

“Town Hall is definitely more of a character game. It’s  where we have two contestants, and they are delegates in this town hall meeting. From the audienc,e we get a suggestion about just a basic item, an everyday item and the ballet that the audience will be voting on later is whether not that item should be banned,” said senior Erin Gaubatz.

The participants in the improv show were chosen by their talent and amount of experience that they had in the theatrical art of improv.

“We are an open organization. We’ve been trying to build so we have a good amount of people who are learning how to do improv well. We want to move to an audition process; we just haven’t gotten there yet. Right now, the process that we have is anyone that comes to the rehearsals for improv. The more you attend the more points you get. At the end, when it gets closer to the show time, they go through and figure out who has the most points,” said drama director Chad Little.

Although there are no more shows for the 2013-2014 school year, stay tuned for future improv shows next school year.
