Concerts Rock St. Louis

IMG_0456        Live music. Bright lights. Screaming fans. High energy. That is how most concerts go. For students going to see concerts is a way to have an evening of fun or to learn new techniques to perform.

“[The Lumineers] have a indie folk feel so it was fun,” said junior Shannon Commerford.

The Lumineers, a band from Denver performed at the Chaifetz Arena on Oct. 4.  It was formed by two best friends named Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. After a couple of years performing they searched for a cellist on craigslist, and they found one named Neyla Pekarek. The trio came out with their self-titled album in 2012 and a hit song called Ho Hey.

Some students go to their first concert in high school to learn how to become a better performer.  This sometimes includes one of their favorite performers. One performer that is the favorite of many students is Sara Bareilles.

“This is my first concert that I have been to so there are many opportunities…I want to see what Sara Bareilles is like in the flesh. As a performer you can learn so much from people who are better than you. Taking that into consideration, you can make yourself and strive to be even better,” said junior Mico Xa.

Some performers coming to St. Louis include  Pink on Nov. 11, Justin Timberlake on Nov. 19, Beyoncé on Dec. 11, and Paramore on Oct. 30. Paramore is group from Nashville that has been performing since 2007.

“I’m so excited [to go to the Paramore concert]. They have been my favorite band since fifth grade,” said junior Maura McBride.

Going to concerts during the fall is a great way to relax and escape the everyday dread of school, and maybe even learn a little more as a performer from that artist.

“Live performances are so much better than the recordings,” said Bareilles.
