Students Get Ready for 4th Annual LouFest

On Sept. 7 and 8, Forest Park will host the 4th annual Loufest, a festival similar to Lollapalooza and Coachella. This year, popular Indie and rock bands like The Killers, Wilco, and The Nationals will be taking the stage.

“I’m going to see The National, Wilco and The Killers,” said sophomore Evan Lehmann.

Besides these three bands, over thirty other bands will be playing throughout the two-day festival. A two-day general admission pass is $95.  This covers all of the bands and both days. The tickets are on sale now, but will go fast since people have already purchased the early-bird tickets to make sure they see bands they have never seen live before.

“[The band that I am most excited to see is] Wilco because they are one of my favorite bands. I have never seen them before. It’s hard to get tickets,” said science teacher Will Young.

Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar’s departure. The band has many sold out shows.

“[The band that I am looking forward to the most is] The National for sure. I feel like it will be a good performance, but they also have meaningful lyrics. It’s going to be fun to experience a blend of the enjoyment aspect of a concert, but also the thoughtful music of the National,” said Lehmann.

One of the more popular bands that will be performing is The Killers. The Killers are an American rock band that was formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2001, by Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning. Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. would complete the current line-up of the band in 2002.

Besides the music, people go to Loufest to experience other aspects of the festival like the art market with art from local artisans, the interactive activities available throughout the day around the park, and the food vendors.
