Throughout the last four years, the senior class has been able to achieve several considerable accomplishments. With their last day on Friday, May 6, the seniors were able to reminisce on the experiences they have had throughout high school and prepare for graduation which will be held tonight, May 10.

“I feel kind of sad and really nostalgic thinking about all of the stuff I did in high school because it’s all over. I don’t have a chance to redo any of it. I would have been more outgoing and tried to put myself out there and not been so self conscious all the time,” said senior Kailey Brown.

Seniors will be beginning a new phase in their lives while leaving some experiences behind.

“It started freaking me out when I had my last band concert because to think that this is never going to happen again was a relieving feeling, but was kind of depressing. I’ve grown up in band since I was nine years old, and to have that discontinued in really depressing,” said senior Destiny Tucker.

Throughout the years, many have evolved and been through a process of self discovery, showing them what potential they truly possess within themselves.

“I have become more confident in who I am. I’m not so angry all the time. I’m a genuinely happy person and that’s something I couldn’t have said as a freshman or sophomore,” said Brown.

“Something that I’ve learned about myself is that anything that you put your mind to, you can achieve. I used to think I was dumb as a bag of rocks. I focused on graduating. That was my goal, and it’s finally happening. It just shows that with a strong mindset about what it is that you want to do you can do it,” said Tucker. .

As the seniors leave the North campus for their last school day, those who are not graduating this year are able to take note and look back on the memories that they share with the class of 2016.

“It’s a little hard to believe that I’m going to be a senior next year because the last two years have gone by really fast, so I know senior year is going to go by really fast. It’s sad that they’re graduating  because I got close with a lot of seniors this year and it’s hard to imagine being at school without them next year,” said junior Skye Stanwich.

As graduation approaches, the seniors will be able to move on to bigger and brighter futures, chasing after what they are truly passionate about.

“I look forward to exploring more of the world and finding myself. It’s going to be an adventurous journey because even through the struggles that I’ve been through in high school I still have a lot of discovering of myself to do,” said Tucker.

As the seniors prepare for what lays ahead of them, they are able to pass down their knowledge that they’ve gained in high school to those who are just getting started.

“Something I’d say to someone just starting high school would be to keep your mind open and don’t let the stigma of high school ruin it before it starts,” said Brown.
