Parkway North Students Celebrate Halloween

20131030_172641[1]Halloween, the most frightening holiday of the year is celebrated by teenagers in many different ways, ranging from parties to trick-or-treating.

“I love everything about Halloween. I love the candy, dressing up, and parties. This year, I dressed up as a pink credit card,” said senior Raven Jackson.

To start off Halloween, Parkway North students put together an event called Trunk-or-Treat where kids received safe treats to eat during Halloween.  At the event, students decorated their trunks with different themes and passed out candy to the trick or treaters.

“Mrs. McMullen already had the idea set for the event, and we just helped her plan for it,” said junior Eryn Carter.

Several students attended mock-trail practice before enjoying their Halloween.

“For Halloween, I was at mock-trail from six to eight. After that, I went to a party,” said senior Duncan Wheeler.

With not having school the day after Halloween due to the staff and faculty having to attend a professional development day, many students attended parties for Halloween.

“I went to a party on Halloween and dressed up as wonder-woman,” said senior Sydney Rosenthal.

While students were attending parties throughout the three-day weekend, some faculty members threw a special Halloween party of their own.

“My daughter and I threw a party for all of my friends and their kids. We had a dance contest, pin the hat on the witch contest and a lot of other random games. After that, we went trick or treating around six and came home and had a sleep over; so it was an all-night event,” said freshman counselor Chandra Brown.

With Nov. 1 being the last day to attend a haunted house, North students wanted to live the thrill of scary movies by going to a haunted house on Halloween

“For Halloween, I went to Creepy World. It was scary at first, but then it wasn’t as scary,” said senior Elona Vishaevetsky.

Other students decided to stay home, relax, and enjoy a couple of movies.

“For Halloween, I stayed at home and watched movie. I watched The Hangover,” said sophomore Campbell Felix.
