Senior Marcelo Grossberger gazes at the referee as he pulls a red card on him. Due to the red card, Grossberger was out for the rest of the game.

Students and family headed to the soccer game right after the pep rally on Friday where the soccer team was in a tough situation since they were playing on a wet field and were playing Ladue, who has a 21-0 season so far.

“I thought that it was unfortunate that we were playing such a dominate force…certainly the first ten minutes I thought our guys played with a lot of passion and did a nice job. We were holding them 0-0 and really felt we were in the game. I’m really proud of the effort the guys gave,” said coach Wendy Freebersyser.

One of the biggest moments from the game was when senior Marcelo Grossberger was issued a red card and pulled for the rest of the game.

Junior Kyle Cronin said, “I was surprised by the refs call. I felt very bad for him because this was his last year and his only year that he would experience a homecoming game.”

Then on Saturday, the varsity football team played Oakville. Alumni from the 2006 varsity football team were honored and many good plays were made.

“Probably the best play was the from [senior] Luke Hertzler to [senior] Kevon McMiller. We spent a lot of time in practice on that, and it was pretty cool see,” said football coach Bob Bunton.

While the team was playing, students, alumni, and family were cheering them on touchdown after touchdown.

The Parkway North varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders cheer on the football team as they make a touchdown. The football team went on to win 49-14.

Sophomore and lineman Jack Wright said, “The crowd was great. I love seeing how many people come out to the games, and homecoming especially brings a lot of emotions up with alumni and people who have come here before. Great crowd.”

During the football game, fine arts teacher Chad Little and students part of the theater department were working the concession stand to raise money for the theater department. Luckily, they were still able to watch the game.

“I think working the concession stands for the first time was pretty interesting because I had never even had an experience like that before,” said sophomore Bailey Annan.

Annan also said, “It’s good that we won since it’s our homecoming game, and it’s important for school spirit.”

The varsity football team’s next game is Oct. 7 against Webster Groves and the varsity soccer team’s next game is Oct. 4 against Kirkwood.
