Tierra Wilson needs vote to earn a Scholarship

As the seniors begin to get accepted into college and think about their college life, scholarships are one of the biggest focuses for the graduating class of this year.

Parkway North Senior, Tierra Wilson submitted her original song “Stuck in the Middle”, to Walgreens expression contest to win a scholarship to the school of her choice.“I found out about the contest through Mathew Dickey’s Boys and Girls Club and thought that it would be a wonderful opportunity,” said senior Tierra Wilson

The song “Stuck in the Middle” was written by Tierra Wilson herself, “There was a specific prompt we had to follow for entering in our songs. And from there I thought about my own personal experiences and some experiences of others; and I was inspired to tell a story about experience every day,” said Wilson.

The inspiring singer hopes to win the scholarship of $2,000 with the help of the voting from her classmates, students, friends, and family in order to win the scholarship.

The song that Tierra creatively wrote is about a girl that’s stuck in the middle of life and doesn’t know which way to go.

“I came home one Saturday and sat in my bathroom writing the song for hours,” said Wilson. “I was very inspired from the subject itself so the lyrics came naturally. The song talks about a girl who is lost and confused, struggles with low self-esteem, sex, and drugs. The song is meant to tell a story that we can relate to and encourage those to find their inner beauty and respect themselves and their bodies.”

Tierra hopes to receive 1st place in the Walgreens Expression contest taking the entire $2,000 to go towards her college funds. If she does not receive first place, she would be content with winning the 2nd place prize of $1,250.
