Students Use Spring Break Time Wisely

Spring break begins March 18 and this year students are taking advantage of the time off school to spend time with their friends, take college visits, and catch up on work and even catching up on sleep.
“I’m not going anywhere over break so I’m just going to relax and sleep a lot,” said junior Daniel Burkemper.
For those not going on trips, spring break can be a great time to do activities that are hard to find time for during the school year. Finding time to read is hard to do with school work always taking up time.  With the financial troubles facing many book stores lately, books are becoming an affordable option for break.
“I like to read over break because I don’t really have the time to during the school year,” said junior Alice Kofman.
Another great activity for students to do over break is movie watching. For those not wanting to go out and spend that much money, renting movies is a lot more affordable.
“Movies are kind of expensive now, but over break I like to go see movies because sometimes it’s hard to find the time during the school year. There are a lot of good movies out now,” said Burkemper.
For juniors, spring break is the perfect time to take college visits without having to miss school. Most colleges are on different spring break schedules than high schools, making it easy for high school students to visit and see what campus life is really like. Many colleges encourage high school students to come during their spring break so that they can spend more time at the college to get the full experience.
“I’m going to visit colleges because I didn’t want to miss school,” said junior Lisa Lerman.
Because the end of the school year is always the busiest, with EOCs, finals and AP tests, spring break is the perfect time for students to relax and get ready for what they have coming for the rest of the year.
