Prom, which was held at the Hilton-Frontenac on May 4, 2013 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m., is an opportunity for friends to come together for long ‘hoorah’ before the end of high school and graduation.

“Prom just puts us all that much closer to graduating and that makes it our last intimate setting with everyone in our school together.  Turned out to be a classy night for everyone,” said senior Emilee Curtis.

Some people were hesitant about attending prom this year but were pleased after having experienced it.

“Prom was more enjoyable than I thought it’d be!  I enjoyed the socializing and the experience of just being there.  It was a good time and I could tell a lot of people were having fun, too.  This will impact my senior year by letting me have something to look back on and remember the time we all had.  At first, I was hesitating on going, but I am very glad I went!” said senior Zoe Halastanis.

Prom attributes several memorable moments, such as buying a suit, a dress, taking pictures, socializing and dancing, to a single evening at the Hilton-Frontenac.

“It was cool to be all dressed up in a formal fashion.  Dancing, laughing and the whole process will make it memorable for the rest of my life,” said senior Aaron Hines.

“Being on prom court made it very memorable, [and] Nick Piazza was the perfect date,” said senior Nicole Muschinsky.

A handful of Parkway North seniors who attended the event sported a variety of different fashion trends.

“My friends and I were looking fly next to our beautiful dates,” said senior Jason Hursey.

At the end of the evening, Hursey and senior Isabella Hanneweinkel were announced the Prom King and Queen.

“What I enjoyed most about prom was being nominated as Prom King and Queen with Isabella.  It was one of my last good memories of high school,” Hursey said.

Taken in its entirety, Parkway North’s 2013 Prom was a success.  Seniors, prepared to graduate in less than a week on May 14, made for an exciting and memorable, while also safe and sober, evening.

“Everyone dreams about prom and my special night finally came,” said senior Amanda Kinamore.
