Parkway North Competes in Gingerbread House Competition

During the past month, the Prostart III students have been working hard on making a gingerbread house to be put on display at the Plaza Frontenac, while competing against four other high schools. This is the first time Parkway North has participated in this contest.
“It took a month to do [and] it was really fun [to make],” said senior Sarah Mennicucci, who was one of the students who put long hours in making the gingerbread house a success.
The gingerbread village represents the diversity at Parkway North by including a Hannukah House, a Christmas House, and a Kwanzaa House.
According to Mennicucci, the gingerbread houses are judged on how creative they look and how edible they are.
“If anything on the gingerbread house is not edible, then the school is automatically disqualified,” said Mennicucci.
All the gingerbread houses will be sold and raffled to raise fund for Lydia’s House, a program in St. Louis that helps abused women and their children to build new lives in the wake of domestic violence.
The ginger bread houses are still on display at the Plaza Frontenac and will be until Dec. 5 when an award ceremony will take place.
