North Choirs will Perform One Last Time

choir3On Wednesday May 1, 2013 at 7 p.m., in the gym, the Parkway North choirs will hold its annual spring concert, which is the last concert of the year where every choir member will perform in one concert.

“The purpose of the concert is to demonstrate that we are covering all aspects of our curriculum,” said co-choir director Brian Reeves. “It is a chance for parents to see what their son or daughter is doing in class. Besides, we are a preforming arts ensemble, and we need to perform.”

This concert will feature all choir ensembles at North. This includes the curricular choirs such as Concert Chorale, Chamber Choir, and Concert Choir. Both the Men’s Room and Powder Room a cappella groups will also be featured in the concert. Also all jazz ensembles (Giant Steps, Spark Plugs, and Miles Ahead) will also perform. Also, North’s gospel choir will perform.

“People can expect to be entertained [at the concert],” said co-choir director Emily Matthews. “We have a variety of music, and a lot of groups preforming.”

Since this is the last major concert for the seniors, this will be an especially special evening for them.

“The spring concert is the last concert with all our seniors. We want everyone to sing a [Like an Eagle] in honor of the seniors,” said Reeves. “We have sung that piece for the last seventeen years.”

Besides singing Like an Eagle, Reeves and Matthews will recognize every individual senior in the ensemble. Also, one deserving singer will earn the prestigious “Singer of the Year award.”

“As a senior, it is our last hoorah!,” said senior Danielle Feinstein. “Getting to sing Like and Eagle for the last time will be a lot of fun. Also, hearing what Reeves and Matthews have to say about us will be exciting.”

The spring concert is the last major choir concert of the school year. It is a concert full of a variety of music, and a lot of traditions. The concert will be next Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the gym.
