Vikettes Place at Camp
This summer, the Vikettes dance squad had tremendous success, after placing first place in home routine in the large squad division, earning 45 blue ribbons on individual evaluations, and placing Superior in the overall category at camp.
“We pretty much swept the camp,” said senior Lizzie Schroeder even though it was “our first year at a UDA camp.”
Along with their team successes, many of the Vikettes had individual successes or were recognized for their achievements. All seven of the senior Vikettes received All-American honors, and three were asked to come back as staff for the dance academy next summer.
“It was really emotional, and all the other girls were really happy to see our team succeed in something we worked so hard for,” said Schroeder.
Along with the seniors, junior Emma Guller was recognized for the title of Drill Down Queen, which means she followed military commands better than anyone else at the whole camp.
“Emma’s my spirit sister,” Schroeder said. “It made me proud to see her accomplish such a great feat.”
The Vikettes look to continue their success with another good performance and placing at their State competition in February, as well as continuing to dance at school events.
