Students Prepare for Upcoming Musical Auditions
Auditions for the school musical, 110 in the Shade, will be held Nov. 15 and 16 after school. In order to prepare students for the audition, various workshops will be held to help students brush up on their singing and dancing skills.
“We have workshops to help [students] prepare,” said director Chad Little. At the workshops, students will learn the music from the show, and some of the dances in the musical.
The workshops will be Thursday, Nov. 10 after school, and Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. until noon.
“Musical theater is a great opportunity to take acting and music and put those together,“ said musical director Emily Matthews. “[Musicals] have bigger casts, so more people are involved.”
For students interested in pursuing singing or acting as a possible carrer in the future, this musical will provide real world experience.
The musical takes place in the 1930’s in Texas. “It is a story about a woman in her young 20’s, who never had boyfriends, and her family wants her married off. She is strong women who is fighting for her independence and wants to be loved,” said Little.
Students interested in auditioning for this romantic comedy are encouraged to attend the workshops, which will prepare them for the upcoming auditions next week.
