St. Louis Celebrates Third Annual Lou Fest
On Aug. 25-26, 2012, St. Louis will celebrate its third annual Lou Fest, the biggest indie music event in St. Louis, at Forest Park.
“I really wish I could go this year because I want to see The Flaming Lips and Girl Talk,” said senior Jennifer Juang.
Some other headlining bands that will be there include Phantogram, Dinosaur Jr, Dr Dog, Son Volt, Dawes, and Cults plus many more.
“There are a lot of great bands this year- whom I did not know about until this festival,” said Juang.
Tickets for the two day festival are $40 for a single day or $70 for both days.
“It’s a pretty inexpensive music concert, and Forest Park would be a really family friendly venue, good for all ages,” said Juang.
Not only are all ages welcome, but kids under 10 years of age get in free with a ticket-holding adult. Tickets can be bought at LouFest.com.
“I’ve been [to Lou Fest] the last two years. I really like supporting St. Louis functions and bringing good music to the area,” said English teacher David Beck.
Lou Fest is not only a fun concert, but it supports local bands in St. Louis. On June 2 and June 9 off Broadway, at 5:00 p.m., local teen bands will compete for a chance to play on the stage during the festival. Six bands will be chosen to play 30-minute sets the day of Lou Fest.
“It’s a great way to put St. Louis on the map,” said Beck.
There aren’t many festivals such as this one that occur in St. Louis; therefore, making this a laege attraction for music lovers of all ages.
For seniors, “it’s a good way to end the summer before heading off to college,” said Juang.
