Spanish Club Changes Meeting Time, Welcomes New Members

Spanish Club is moving from Friday afternoons to Thursdays after school to accommodate more students to have fun while learning Spanish.
“I think it is important to have a club for students who wanted to do activites related to Spanish and have fun at the same time. We need more people in the club…there are not many because of it taking place on Fridays [in the past],” said Spanish teacher and sponsor Mercedes Lukens.
Currently, there are not many teens in this club because it had only been on   Fridays in the past; but the club is moving to Thursday from 3-4 p.m.  During this time the students will gain knowledge of the language and culture by participating in activities like a scavenger hunt around the school, hangman games, eating snacks, and talking to others in Spanish.
“By being a part of Spanish Club, I get more exposure to all of [the Spanish culture] so being a member definitely allows me to see a lot more of the culture and language itself and to be able to practice it more,” said junior Isabella Cova.
For people who have an interest in learning the Spanish language and culture, this club would be beneficial.
“I think it’s worth it because in the end, I’ll be able to communicate with so many more people which is one of my dreams. Kelly, Steven Gruber, and I work as the leaders of the club. The club is special to me because I love Spanish even though it’s challenging at times,” said Cova.
