PNH Color Guard Places at Competitions, Looks at Successful Season

On Oct. 26, the Parkway North color guard will be competing at the Greater St. Louis Competition at the Edward Jones Dome at 3 p.m. after having a very successful year so far. Over 50 bands will compete for the title.
Senior Czerina Sarah Rivera said, “We won our first competition at Belleville High School, and we got second place at Washington competition.” Color guard has been practicing at 6:45 a.m. with band and Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. to prepare for both football games and the competitions.
For many members on the team, it is a fresh new way to start the school year and an excellent accomplishment that has just begun. Besides winning competitions and performing at games, color guard members also enjoy the camaraderie they feel with other members.
Rivera said, “We have a sisterly bond between all the girls on the team.”
The past years have not been as successful as this one has, and according to Rivera it started with the many newcomers that have joined this year and the team bonding.
Sophomore Abigail Gutmann said, “We have six new people to the team this year.”
