Parkway North Choir Performs at Fall Concert
On Thursday Oct. 7, the Parkway North Choir will have their annual Fall Choir Concert. The Concert Chorale, Chamber Choir, and Concert Choir will all be performing at the concert.
Concert Choir will be performing the famous work O Fortuna by Carl Orff. They will also be performing a German piece, Helig, which features a double choir. This is when the choir splits and actually forms two different choirs for a song.
“I’m looking forward to the concert because there’s one song [Helig] that we are singing that requires two choirs. The block I’m in sings one part while the other block sings another part. I’m looking forward to how it’s going to turn out,” said junior Josh Byun.
Concert Choir’s main work will be Zadok the Priest, which they will play with the orchestra. Zadok was composed by George Frideric Handel in 1727 for King George II’s coronation. It has been played at every subsequent British coronation service. It is traditionally performed during the sovereign’s anointing.
“I think it’s great that we get to sing a song with a lot of history to it. I’m also looking forward to performing with the orchestra. I think it’s cool how the two groups of musicians are coming together to make music,” said Byun. “It should be a great concert. Everyone should come out and see us.”
The concert will be at North at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 7. Admission costs are $3 for students/adults and $2 for children.
