Orchestra, Choir, Band Perform at Pops Concert

On Saturday, Feb. 5, the Parkway North orchestra, band and the concert choir will be hosting their annual Pops concert in the large gym at 7:30 p.m.  The orchestra and choir host this event every other year.
“I really love all the effort that everyone puts in for the Pops concert. Especially, with the fact that this is my last pops concert at North,” said junior Satya Kothapalli, who is a current member of North Orchestra.
The theme of this concert is a Night in the Cinema.  This means the band, orchestra, and choir will perform songs connected to popular movies and soundtracks.
Orchestra will perform songs from Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Enchanted, Willy Wonka, and Pirates of the Caribbean.  Songs that choir will perform are from the movie Sister Act and Lion King.  The band will perform selections from Harry Potter and Mary Poppins.
“People should come because this isn’t like one of our regular concerts where only the choir performs individually, or the orchestra, or the band, but all 3 of us get together and perform. Plus it’s just very upbeat and very exciting and with all the hard work we all put into it, it’s just a really fun night to come out and have fun,” said Kothapalli.
Tickets are 10 dollars for a table and 5 dollars to sit in the bleachers.  All the ticket proceeds go to the Parkway North music program.  Seating is arranged by reservation if wanting a table, but bleachers are open on a first come first serve basis.
