North Students Enjoy Success at State Thespian Conference

On the weekend of Jan. 7, many students from North attended the 2012 State Thespian Conference at Missouri State. From these students, six were given high honors.
Amongst these six was junior Danielle Feinstein, who received multiple accolades. She received a rating of Excellent in her solo musical performance, and was elected to the Student Missouri State Thespian Board. There are four positions on this board, to be filled from students around the state. Feinstein will also be attending the International Thespian Festival, which will take place in Lincoln, Nebraska, and may be running for the International Student Board.
“I’m really glad I was able to get an Excellent. I put a lot of time into it,” said Feinstein. “I’m really excited for Nebraska!”
Many other students from North were honored at the conference. Senior Sarah Vlodek received call backs from two colleges, one of which offered her a scholarship. Junior Alex Pack received a rating of Superior on his Lighting Design, and was invited to present it again at the International Thespian Festival. Senior Nichol Davis received 3rd place in the theatre event of Knot Tying for speed and accuracy. Juniors May Eliezer and Jamie Schuval received 1st place in Props.
Along with these individual awards, the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee went to State as a musical. This musical began as the Parkway All-District Musical, and was a tremendous success among all of the Parkway schools and at State.
“It was a little difficult doing it again after not performing it for so long,” said senior Josh Byun. “We didn’t practice that much.”
The students all look forward to their future with Thespian activities, and are excited for what lies ahead.
