North Faculty, Students Weigh in On Recent Leakage
Parkway North’s leakage throughout the school year has been one of the most talked about topics. The recent leakage that occurred over spring beak left North’s school smelling horribly, and the buckets of water made travel time difficult.
“I don’t like it. It always smells when it leaks. It’s most definitely a disruption to the learning environment; I felt like I was going to throw up,” said senior Kayla Tanksley.
Because of the extreme leakage in Parkway North’s building Creve Coeur Postage Patch and Fox 2 News were on campus getting information.
“The reason that Vogt’s room was so bad is because no one was here Sunday or Monday to try to stop the leaks,” said junior principal Rob Gaugh.
Ways to fix the school’s leakage problems have been brainstormed but because of the school’s budget, many of those plans have been set aside.
“Replacing the roof would be the only way to fix it,” said Gaugh. “But it would be extremely expensive to do that.”
Although North isn’t able to replace the entire roof because of their budget, they can continue to find ways to temporarily fix the leakage.
“We usually try to patch up the parts where we find leaking,” said Gaugh.
The leakage that recently happened wasn’t the only leakage that happened. Unfortunately, there have been multiple leakages throughout the year.
“The leakage throughout the school mostly depends on the weather. When we have rain or snow, it will most likely leak,” said freshman principal Greg Wagener.
As the school year comes to an end and the new school year rolls around, staff and students hope for a new roof or building so that this leaking problem won’t occur again and turn into an even larger problem.
