International Club Members Participate in Scavenger Hunt, Learn About World Culture
On March 1, Parkway North High School’s International Club will be holding a scavenger hunt after school from 3 to 3:45. The winning group will receive a prize, and everyone will be provided with snacks and drinks.
International Club is a chance to learn about the different cultures of the world. Students get to educate other students about their country of origin. There are no fees to become a member and all you need is an interest in learning about different countries and cultures.
“A lot of times, the foreign exchange students come to talk to us about their nations. Each month, we have a specific country ‘theme’ and we talk about that culture and also eat foods from that nation,” said junior Satya Kothapalli.
Each month a new activity is arranged. Last month, the club played jeopardy.
Sarah Berk has been involved in the club for 20 years. “I was born in Israel. Then I moved to Africa with my family and the US as a teenager. My background allows me to deal with students of diverse backgrounds, which is perfect for the diversity we have at North,” said Berk.
Students come and learn about the world together and meet new friends.
