Improv performs annual show
Whether you love theatre, have friends in the show, or are simply in need of a good laugh, Parkway North’s improv show will be for everyone tonight, staring at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre.
The theatre department’s Improv Team, “Insert Laughter (Here)” will be hosting their annual Improv Show tonight in the theatre for $5 per ticket.
“[The show will be] very similar to what goes on in the television show ‘Who’s Line is it Anyway?’ only without Jim Carrey,” said theatre sponsor Chad Little.
Running through a series of improv games, scenes, and spur-of-the-moment acting skills, the performers in the show will be able to showcase all that they’ve worked on this semester.
“[At the show], the cast plays improv games from all-in games [where the entire cast participates], head-to-head games [where the cast, divided into teams competes against each other], and scene games [where teams perform in their specified games or scenes],” said sophomore Cassidy Munie.
Members of the Improv Club have been preparing all year for this performance, practicing all semester and even having a professional improv coach come in to help the students hone their skills.
“We have 28 students in the Improv Club who meet twice a week after school throughout the semester to learn games and practice their skills and to get better at the art of improvisation,” Little said.
Of the 28 students in the club, 15 were picked to perform in the show tonight.
Munie said, “[Danielle Feinstein, Nick Piazza, and I] selected who would be in the show based on who we felt was best ready to perform, but we wanted those who aren’t in the show to practice and improve their skills even further so they still come to practice.”
Whether they are in this show or not, members of the Improv Club are all excited to showcase what they have learned in the art of improv.
“Tonight is all about [the students] showing off what they know,” Little said.
