Gay Straight Alliance Club Discusses Bullying

On Wed., Oct. 13, the Gay Straight Alliance Club will discuss bullying at North due to sexual orientation and will continue to talk about past subjects.
“We will be talking about bullying and how it’s not just physical, but that it can also be verbal,” said junior GSA member Sarah Vlodek.
GSA’s goal as a group is to reduce prejudices based on sexual orientation of students at North and include anyone who wants to join.
“We’re in the process of creating a ‘hero program’ to stop bullying and draw attention to the bullying that goes on in our halls all the time and ultimately to create a safer environment,” said GSA supervisor and theatre teacher Chad Little.
This year, the group is focused on bullying and standing up for those who are the victims of bullying because of sexual orientation.
Anyone is allowed to attend GSA and take part in discussion about making North more tolerant.
“It’s an opportunity for students with different backgrounds and interests to get together and a stronger and more tolerant community,” said Little.
GSA meets every Wednesday after school in the theater.
