Four North Wrestlers Compete at State Competition
Four boys from the Parkway North wrestling team went to the State tournament on Feb. 17-19 at the University of Missouri-Columbia to place as one of the premier wrestlers in the state of Missouri.
One wrestler, junior David Evans made it to State but was not able to compete because he dislocated his shoulder.
“The atmosphere was huge,” said Adderly.
Adderly participated in six matches and finished with a record of 4-2 earning him a fifth place finish. After losing his first match, Adderly really needed to get his mind focused on doing well at State.
“My dad kept pushing me toward my goal, and he told me what to do in order to reach it, and I just listened to what he was saying,” said Adderly
Winning the next three matches in a row, Adderly was put in the position to wrestle for the third and fourth place match if he won and wrestle for the fifth and sixth place spot in he lost. After losing that match, Adderly still had a chance to place.
“I’m in the top five of wrestlers in the state in the 125 lb. weight class. I worked really hard all year by training, lifting and running. I was really happy [with my results],” said Adderly.
