Captain's Council Holds First Meeting This Year

On Sept. 8, between 45 to 60 sophomore, junior and senior athletes participated in the first Captain’s Council meeting this year at Parkway North.
The group meets to discuss issues concerning the athletic department along with school community events to influence the school in a positive way.
“We have a drug free council currently made up of five students in the district community; their job is to lead the Captain’s Council as drug free leaders to influence our Captains Council who in return will influence peers,” Kris Kellams said.
One of the reasons Parkway North has this program is to recognize the athletes who make good decisions everyday. The goal is to highlight their decisions and good behavior.
To participate, a student athlete must have been recommended by their coach, and drug free council members decide whether the students would be good for Captains Council or not.
The Captain’s Council works together to help keep themselves out of trouble and help other students make good decisions as well.
The group consists of a lot of people who share the same feelings as well as make good deacons in life concerning staying drug free and athletics.
“It’s good to know there are a lot of people feeling the same way I do.”  Senior Amanda Lewis said.
