Book Club Seeks New Members

The Parkway North book club meets once per month in the library after school.  The club reads, analyzes, and discusses books, ranging anywhere from current books to young adult fiction.  Some of the book titles that the club has read include Grapes of Wrath and Pride and Prejudice.
One different club member chooses the book each month and creates questions to discuss the next month at the following meeting.  Along with reading the novels, if the books that are read have been turned into movies, club members watch those as well.
“We watch the movies and discuss the differences between the book and movie.  Sometimes we’re amazed by how different the books and movies are,” said librarian Eve Diel, the sponsor of the book club.
The book club consists of a core of five to six students each month.
Diel stated, “There are some students who come to some meetings if they like the book we’re reading, and some students may not be able to make it because they’re busy.  We encourage younger students to join as well.”
With the club growing, the members look to continue with new books.  The book club meets monthly, usually on Wednesdays, and lasts for about an hour.  All students are welcome to join.
