PNH Juniors, Seniors Look Forward to Prom

This weekend, on Saturday, May 5, juniors and seniors from Parkway North will arrive at the Frontenac Hilton at 7:30 pm for Prom.

“I’d say that Prom is very enjoyable; a wonderful time for the upperclassman to get together and celebrate together,” said senior Anthony Henderson.

For juniors, Prom is likely a relatively new experience, and for seniors, it is one last celebration together as a class before they separate and go off to pursue their careers and ambitions.

“For the Seniors, this is the last dance, it gives me a feeling of accomplishment as to how far we have come,” said Henderson.

The celebration, which usually consists of hundreds of students, is different from homecoming in a variety of ways, including the atmosphere of the evening, and the type of music that is played.  Prom serves as a wonderful social experience for those looking to chat with their peers.

“What I love about Prom is how dressed up everyone gets, I wish everyone dressed up like this everyday!  At Prom we are served a meal which is different from homecoming.  Following the meal a good percentage dances to the band, which is also different than homecoming which has a DJ.  I personally like the band better because you get to hear different music ranging from different decades and it is refreshing to hear something different than you are used to hearing on the radio daily,” said Henderson.

As Prom approaches, seniors reminisce their favorite memories from last year’s celebration.

“[My most memorable experience from last year’s prom was] dancing with everyone on the dance floor regardless of how much we disliked the music,” said senior Alli Ladd.

The senior class is looking forward to getting to spend a fun, formal evening with their fellow classmates for the last time.

“This year I’m [most] excited about being with all of my friends,” said Ladd.
